Calnetix was formed in 1998 by its four co-founders, Vatche Artinian, Co Huynh, Larry Hawkins and Pat McMullen with an audacious goal: to change the way the world harvests and utilizes energy.
Self-described gear heads, our four founders combined their expertise in high-speed, high-efficiency electric motor-generator technologies, and advanced magnetic bearing technologies. The combination was powerful, and even more potent when Calnetix’s engineering team internally developed high-frequency power conversion technologies.
Armed with passion and its suite of proprietary technologies, Calnetix provides advanced, energy-efficient solutions for a variety of applications, often in challenging, rugged environments.

Increasing chiller cooling capacity of the U.S. Navy ship by over 85 percent, while enhancing reliability and efficiency, in order to provide vital cooling for electronics, command and control systems, and crew comfort.

Storing energy for critical power backup for data centers, hospitals, and other critical applications.

Harvesting waste heat from various industrial applications to generate clean electric power.
- Developing a first-of-its-kind, magnetic bearing air blower for NASA for the International Space Station to replace an older blower technology utilized for CO2 removal.
- Converting energy wasted in pressure reduction processes into electric power.
- Recovering energy from regenerative braking in rail and motorsports applications.
- Boosting performance for motorsport, hypercar and other automotive and marine engine applications, while reducing engine footprint and fuel consumption.
- Pumping oil from previously inaccessible deep, subsea oil reserves.
